- Discounts on workshops and eLearning Library pre-recorded trainings that may be eligible to provide continuing education credits toward registration or credentialing as a play therapist.
- For those who have a private practice and have a BCPTA regular membership, or are a BCRPT or BCRPT-S, you may be listed on BCPTA’s “Find a Therapist or Other Mental Health Professionals” directory listing. You will also be able to link your website on this online private practice directory and this will boost your Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and make it easier for people to find your services online. Student members cannot be listed on the directory.
- Support for professionals and students in the field of play therapy through:
- Free access to BCPTA Play Cafés: Informal gatherings that feature short presentations on topics relevant to play therapy, followed by an opportunity for questions and answers.
- Helping you connect with peer supervision groups.
- Assistance for members interested in pursuing play therapy credentialing.
- BCPTA circulates advertisements for educational opportunities on the topic of play therapy, or child therapy and expressive approaches that complement play therapy. Members receive 25% off advertising.
Professional and Supervisor membership benefits include all of the above and the BCPTA may list your professional development offerings on our website for free. Please send us a short description (50 words) and a link to the full details of the workshop.
Professional Development
BCPTA organizes workshops, supervision groups, and lectures throughout the year.
The organization has sponsored and attracted many fine speakers and pioneers in the fields of therapeutic intervention including Dr. John Allan, Marie-Jose Dhaese, Sandra Wieland, Helen Benedict, Sarina Kot, Maureen McEvoy, Coleen Gold, Marshall Wilensky, Mary Anne Pare, Garry Landreth, and Rise VanFleet, to name just a few. It has been the ongoing goal of the BCPTA to promote responsive, timely, and quality professional development and training for its members and those in the larger therapy and counselling community.
While we encourage the use of our automated online registration system, we still accept manual application forms. Click here to download a manual membership application form.
